The internet has provided a novel data collecting tool for labor economics research. Because of the key advantages of internet-sourced labor market data like dynamic and timeliness, it can be used to answer questions which are difficult to study with traditional data. Based on a literature review, this paper discusses the origin process, connotation and application of the internet-sourced labor market data. Then it summarizes methods for data collecting, measuring indicators, and potential problems as well as the corresponding solutions. At last, it gives prospects for using big data to study national labor market for the purpose of promoting the application of big data in domestic labor economics research.
