我国现阶段劳动参与率的持续走低与房价高涨有密切联系。文章在构建劳动参与决策理论模型的基础上,采用Probit模型、BiProbit模型和条件混合过程(CMP)估计,研究了房价对城镇居民劳动参与的影响。详细探讨了房价影响劳动参与的异质性和机制,并引入省级人均土地购置面积作为城市房价的工具变量以缓解内生性。研究发现:首先,房价上涨会引发居民劳动参与率下降,具体表现为降低家庭内部男女双方均参与劳动的概率和提升仅有一方参与劳动以及双方均不参与劳动的概率,并且对家庭中女方劳动参与的负向影响更大。其次,通过异质性分析发现,房价对教育程度较低的居民的劳动参与负面影响较大。房价会正面影响青年人劳动参与,负面影响中老年人劳动参与,而且随年龄增大,负面影响会加强。最后,通过机制分析发现房价上涨通过财富效应、成本效应和遗产动机影响居民劳动参与。文章的研究对政府调控房价、促进社会稳定与经济持续健康发展具有重要启示意义。
