由于工作群体内领导对不同下属的“差别对待”在中西方组织中都很普遍,并且中西方对该现象的研究在很大程度上相互独立,因此本文对中西方领导差别对待相关构念的发展和影响效应研究进行了比较式回顾。本文发现,中西方各自所提出的领导差别对待构念有着不同的理论基础和文化背景,因而内涵存在差异。此外本文还发现,基于中西方构念的领导差别对待效应研究,尽管都存在实证结果不一致的现象,并且都涉及领导差别对待与员工公平感之间的关系和领导差别对待所带来的群体分化等问题,但各自所采用的理论视角、所提出的具体假设机制存在很多差异。基于相关回顾,本文最后对领导差别对待理论的未来发展进行了展望并简单讨论了该理论的“跨文化适用性”问题。
